ALEXANDER PEREDA

 

Alexander was born in Cuba. A      fter graduating from the National Ballet School in Camaguey, he was quickly promoted to Prinicipal Soloist at Ballet de Camaguey. Later he joined the newly formed, ProDanza in Havana - where he was influenced by his teacher and director Laura Alonso. Alex moved to Ballet Nacional de Cuba, as Principal soloist. His career has a professonal dancer have taken him all over the world - perfoming Basilio in Don Quixote, James in La Sylphide as well as numerous pas de deux roles in Le Corsaire, Diane et Aceton and La Bayadere. 

Alex has received the Special Joffrey Award in 1994 and the Diploma of Honour in 1991. 

 

Once settled in Europe, Alex than spent a few years as Principal in Aida at Verona Opera before becoming soloist and ballet master at Peter Breuers Salzburg Dance Company. This marked the end of his career as a dancer. As a teacher Alex has taught professional dance companies as well as hobby dancers.
