ABOUT US
Founded in 2018 by Gina Tse, an award winning soloist, principal dancer and master teacher, The International Ballet School in Stockholm has grown exponentially since first opening its doors.
Today, the school and junior company offer internationally acclaimed dance education and ballet training for hobby and pre-professional dancers at its Södermalm studios and Arts Centre overlooking Haga Royal Park. Attentive individual and small group ballet training of the highest standard is integrated with modern values to provide a safe and equitable culture of learning that builds self-esteem, encourages individual creativity, strengthens concentration, musicality and cognitive memory, and fosters long-term perseverance and passion.

PERFORMANCE IS AN ART

At IBS, every pupil is encouraged to perform before an audience. Being a part of a professionally produced original ballet stage production is a uniquely thrilling experience, and taking part in rehearsals, bonding with other dancers, and learning about the art of choreography in order to connect with an audience through movement and storytelling is a pillar of the IBS experience.
IBS produces and performs original choreographed ballets for private and public audiences in cooperation with its community of professional directors, choreographers, stage and costume designers, and leading guest dancers from the The Royal Opera Swedish Ballet. In addition to being a fantastic opportunity to share with the public what happens behind studio doors at IBS, it allows audiences as young as 2 years old to connect with ballet and classical culture– often for the first time. For the IBS students, performing an art for audiences and connecting with them through ballet builds personal confidence that lasts a lifetime.
HEALTH OF MIND & BODY

The IBS ethos includes a positive mindset as well as a strong body. This prepares IBS students for a stable future in ballet, and a healthy life as an adult. The Senior Associates and Trainee Programme participants receive mindfulness coaching to address the many issues that pop up when growing up as a dancer. To strengthen IBS dancers physically, coaches from The Swedish Olympic Committee train IBS students– ensuring that they’re strong enough to thrive as classical dancers.
DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

IBS is committed to building a diverse and inclusive ballet culture, and Gina Tse and the IBS staff regularly engage in initiatives that promote these core values inside and outside the IBS school and studios. Gambian author Emily Joof’s children’s book “Ballet with Heart” celebrates inclusion, boys in ballet, and tells a story about classical dance for children of all abilities, gender and race. Inspired by the International Ballet School and Gina Tse, the book is now selling worldwide.
