LIZ COMPORT

Liz was born in England and began ballet lessons at the age of 3.

Today she has over 30 years. experience as a professional ballet dancer and teacher. At the age of 10 she was accepted into the Royal Ballet School, and graduated 8 years later.

During this time she had the opportunity to participate in performances with the Royal Ballet Company.

One of which was The Nutcracker with Rudolph Nureyev.

Liz moved to Sweden to join Malmö State Theatre Ballet at the age of 18. 5 years later she joined The Royal Swedish Ballet, Kungliga Operan in Stockholm, where she stayed for the rest of her career.

Liz has danced all the major “Classics” and some modern works. Mostly in the Corps de ballet, but also as choryphée and soloist. Choreographers include; Frederick Ashton George Balanchine, Kenneth MacMillan John Neumeier and Maurice Béjart and Jiri Kylian. Guest performances and tours spanning from Drottningholms Slottsteater to Tokyo in Japan, London, Europe and the United States.

Liz danced for the King and Queen of Sweden when she received a Scholarship from Drottningholms Slottsteater.

After leaving the stage, Liz re-trained at
the Royal Academy of Dance in London and was awarded the
Professional Dancers Teaching Diploma, and has taught at schools in Stockholm and at the Svenska Balettskolan, Piteå.

Liz was Sweden’s first certified instructor of Progressing Ballet Technique and has been teaching it since 2012.

She also teaches Dance for Parkinsons.

My ambition is to share what I have learned from some of the greatest teachers ever known, so that we can pass on the knowledge and keep the tradition alive. “For without tradition, we cannot move forward”.

Liz is married and has two Burmese cats.
